At some point in your life if you have been diagnosed with ADHD you have been overwhelmed with a busy brain you wish you could control. The feeling of wanting to be “normal” sometimes haunts your mind.

But what is “normal?”

What are the benefits of being “normal?”

According to ForbesADHD is the Entrepreneurs Superpower

Instead of trying to fit into the stereotypes the world leaves us into believing we all have to be like, realize that the most successful entrepreneurs brains function differently.

We do not just look at a plant and see the beautiful flower. Instead we see the petals, the seeds, the way the light hits it. But in that moment while we begin thinking of every detail of that plant,  we start imaging new landscaping ideas and coming up with new ideas and plans. Ideas so unique and brilliant….But just that quick we get distracted.

Getting distracted and not following through with all of our ideas is what hurts us in the entrepreneur world.

Our ideas are worth millions!

Only when you learn how to control your unique brain, keep all of those ideas organized and follow through, you will find success.

There are a lot of things I do to help keep my distractions at minimal and stay organized.

Let jump right into it!

TRAIN YOUR ADHD MIND

CREATE A ROUTINE

Creating a routine helps your brain function more effectively.

Your routine should start when you wake up in the morning. Including the time you wake up. Try and keep it simple by setting a goal. Let’s say you usually wake up at 9am everyday. Your goal could be to wake up every morning at 6am. Try keeping it simple by focusing on waking up 1 hour earlier for a week or 2 until you make it to your desired goal.

Targeting a wakeup time is not the only thing that is important. Setting a bedtime schedule if possible will help ensure you get the desired hours of sleep each night.

TAKE MENTAL BREAKS

It is important to give yourself mental breaks throughout the day to allow your brain to rest from certain tasks.

Treat your breaks as a part of your schedule. Book them into your calendar to relax during the day.

ORGANIZATION WILL CHANGE YOUR ADHD LIFE

BLOCK SCHEDULING

Creating a block schedule is the best way to organize your life with ADHD without getting overwhelmed.

Instead of creating an exact time to get tasks completed. Schedule yourself in blocks of time to give yourself more time to get things done so you don’t get overwhelmed, when some tasks take longer than others.

Example:

7am-9am Clean Kitchen and Put up Laundry

9am-12pm Create blog post

12pm-1pm Mental Break

1pm-3pm Create and Schedule Social Media Posts

SMALLER SPECIFIC EXPECTATIONS

When giving yourself goals or daily goals, make the goals smaller and more realistic. This way they can be achieved to prevent you from getting discouraged.

Daily goals should be specific and not broad.

We can look at a list all day that says clean the house and work on social media. Even though you may work on it, you may not feel accomplished.

Our brain desires to feel accomplished.

Instead, your list should be specific and say “wash the dishes” and “create and schedule instagram post for next week”

Now you have 2 checks on your to do list. You are likely to be more motivated to complete smaller specific task than broad tasks.

MAKE A CHECKBOX LIST

The Queen Blogger

Okay so it may be for mental satisfaction, but hey, anything that helps right?

Take your smaller specific list of tasks and put a box next to them. This works when you are even planning ahead for the next day. Our brain is looking for satisfaction to keep going.

Add checks to those boxes when you get those tasks completed.

Once your day is over, you may have not been able to check everything off the list. AND THAT’S OKAY!

I promise your brain will see all the checks from the tasks you DID complete, and you will still finish off your day feeling accomplished.

LIKE-MINDED TASKS

Adhd productivity

Succeeding as an entrepreneur with ADHD requires strategy

Switching back and forth between unrelated tasks is very challenging, even for someone who does not have ADHD.

You can not create a schedule for yourself that has you alternating between tasks that require different parts of the brain to be put to use.

For example, you should not be working on writing blog posts, and having scheduled coaching sessions within the same day or time frame. Instead, try working on similar tasks such as writing a blog post, writing email sequences, or outlining blog content. That way your brain is in writing mode for the day, or time frame.

Another example would be creating pins for your Pinterest boards and creating instagram posts. Your mind is in a creative design space. Try scheduling yourself to work on those tasks on the same day.

Again, transitioning between certain tasks is easier if your brain is already in that mode.

HEALTH

Of course we all know that being healthy is the foundation for everything in the medical world. With ADHD it is no exception.

EXERCISE

Exercising daily especially a cardio activity such as running or walking is very effective at increasing productivity and motivation.

Try starting your morning off early with exercising if you are physically able to. The increase in endorphins in your brain will also improve your mood which is a great way to get your day started.

Even doing yoga in the comfort of your home such as your bed room or living room each day is great for your health.

MEDICATION

Many people with ADHD are prescribed amphetamine meds such as Adderall, Vyvanse, or Ritalin.

If you take medications to help you focus and run your business, do not ever let anyone shame you for it. It is no different than taking prescribed medication for any other health condition.

The downside of these meds are the side effects that can leave you feeling anxious or irritable. They also can take a hit at your personality, making it a little harder for you to socialize. You may also start feeling like you can’t complete tasks without it.

You do not have to depend on these medications. By all means, take if needed. But realize controlling and organizing your life can also help manage your symptoms and accomplish your goals

Take multi vitamins daily.

IN CONCLUSION

Organize your life and learn how to manage your ADHD.

Let your mind work for you, don’t let it control you!

You are one of a kind! Although it may be harder to focus and accomplish some tasks. Remember that you have a gift that makes your goals far more superior and unique that most peoples brain could not even imagine or develop.

BE YOU!

DARE TO BE DIFFERENT!
