Blogging is a high demand business for this electronic generation. Content creators are on their toes to bring something new to the table each day. They want new and engaging content to keep the audience glued to them. Blogs are what saved us from pandemic boredom!

So, what should the goals of your blog be #PeoplesChoice or #Number1?

The secret lies in our childhood lessons!

Growing up and entering different stages of life, we should set clear goals to help us strategize and work on achieving those goals. The blogging world is no different.

Being a part of the blogging world, I have always stuck to this strategy. Although it has worked for me, I admit facing many challenges that make the goals seem so hard to reach. Setting goals is an excellent strategy for your dream blog but it will never be complete without a plan.

My Advice!

DON’T JUST WING IT!

So, I am here today, to help your blog succeed by sharing my experience and helping you adopt some tips on how to have a successful blog.

Question: Is it possible for your blog to be functional without any goals?

The answer is No!

Take it as a do-or-die situation and set goals in the following ways for your blog.

SETTING REAL-TIME GOALS

How to Set Blogging Goals

You need to know that your blog and its future are incomplete without your traffic. Presenting new and different content for your target audience now and then. Do not panic. To help you out and smoothly set your goals, here’s how to do it.

TRAFFIC GOALS

Divide your work into a period of 1-3 months.

You should really try and aim for quarterly goals (every 3 months) and have goals specific to each month and week.

Let’s take a gig of 3 months, i.e., 90 days. Set a goal to reach a specific number of sessions or users for your blog. It will help you sail through.

It will push and motivate you to do more to engage with your audience.

CONTENT CREATION GOALS

Just like Traffic Goals, content goals are equally important.

For 90 days, decide on the number of blog post that you will be publishing, as well as any other content you plan on creating such as digital products or sponsored posts.

It is extremely important to be realistic when creating these goals and sticking to goals that can be both achievable and measurable.

When initIally launching your blog, in order to really get traffic going, it is best to post at least 2 blog posts a month, but again, this may not be what is realistic for most bloggers.

Many bloggers starting out work full-time jobs and kids to raise.

Time is very valuable.

What worked best for me during this time frame is setting time aside for me to work on blog post during the night when my kids were sleeping, and scheduling them out ahead of time.

A FULL-PROOF PLAN

Blogger Goals

There will always be many ways to generate more traffic. You can get paid traffic for your blog instead of organic. Understand both is okay!  If you wish to put effort in either paid or organic traffic, a full-proof and well-executed plan is what will make those expectations come to life.

I found myself blogging without purpose for a very long time! It definitely did not get me anywhere. My blogs always stayed stagnant. Thats when I initially felt like my previous blogs were not going anywhere. If you sit down to work on your blog whenever you “feel like it” the success is going to come whenever it “feels like it!”

What are you striving for this year? Is it to make money blogging? Or is it to build followers, a reputation? A name for yourself? To get recognized by big sponsors?

Whatever it is, make sure that your plan follows a direction.

Don’t go with a multi-functional approach to target all social media platforms together. Instead, figure out which social media platforms people in your niche would most likely hang out, and find your brand.

Work on those platforms first!

QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

MINI-GOALS FOR THIS PLATFORM

Pinterest and Facebook, are my top favorite (right now) for THIS BLOG – Instagram is the most common platforms to target audiences for many niches. Find your platform, and start creating those goals.

Every platform is not treated equal. So, do not duplicate all your posts across different platforms.

Figure out your business strategy and what images, videos, captions, people on that platform are looking for! Cater those needs to each platform – INDIVIDUALLY.

FIND GOALS FOR EACH PLATFORM. What you want to commit to each month, as well as the stats you’re trying to reach each month or quarter.

Facebook

  • Scheduling posts for blog promotion
  • Be an active part of the Facebook groups that’ll help in sharing your blog posts in the form of a thread

Pinterest

  • You need to spin the keywords both in titles and descriptions to spread the reach
  • Become a part of a minimum of 5 group boards and Tailwind tribes

Instagram

We are all guilty of mindlessly scrolling Instagram to a moment when we are all caught up. So, try doing these things to attract your audience:

  • Setting up a Linktree account and don’t forget to mention it in the bio
  • Opt for at least uploading one blog daily on this platform. Make sure your blog should contain something for your target audience to relate upon

DON’T FORGET TO EVALUATE
YOUR PROGRESS

How to Set Blogging Goals

Once you have begun with the following steps on a strict and decided timeline, evaluation is a must. Putting continuous efforts is good, but they should be a part of your long-term strategy. You should also do continuous progress analysis along with it. Set small and achievable monthly goals, and note your progress by the end of that month.

No need to go on a guilt trip if you are unable to fulfill it completely. Instead, here’s what you can do.

WORK ON YOUR SUCCESS AND FAILURES

How to Set Blogging Goals

There might be chances when you feel happy because your performance has been BANG ON for the targets of 3 months. But, sometimes, you’ll have a bad day because your blog content was not able to meet the expected reach or, turns out, you might have gone a little unreal in setting your targets.

Don’t let the sad days take a toll and harm your blog vision. Understand that things like this happen. And, it’s completely normal. But, what’ll pull you out of this is learning and practical use of it.

Reflect on what worked and what did not. Work on your content creation and SEO strategies similarly because a platform like Pinterest will always help you by having the ball in your coat.

ROLL OUT NEW BLOG GOALS

While setting new goals for improving your blog reach, don’t forget to make sure that they are measurable and belong to a finite timeline.

Remember, little Progress is better than no progress. So, it’s better to evaluate your mini-goals by the end of each month or bi-monthly. It’ll help you draw a graph for your progress that is likely to fetch good results for your blog’s traffic and content for future opportunities to come.

IN CONCLUSION

Setting goals for your blog is not a very tough task.

Ask yourself a question: Are you creating blogs to increase your social media followers or get follow-backs? Do you wish to have real-time organic traffic waiting for all that you have to offer?

In the end, be the better judge and set real and achievable goals in a defined timeline for your blog and its future growth.
